Purdue University Fort Wayne was founded in 1964, the university conveys a significant presence in the region and boasts a modern campus that includes well-equipped classrooms, impressive research labs, first-rate student apartments, popular restaurants and retail, and inviting gathering spaces. The campus serves as the epicenter of culture and entertainment for the region and presents hundreds of lectures, musical performances, theatrical productions, art exhibitions, and sporting events annually. With more than 8,100 degree-seeking students and 330 full-time faculty members, Purdue Fort Wayne offers small classes and individualized attention with all the attributes of a major research university.

A regional campus of both Indiana University and Purdue University, the campus is managed by Purdue University under the terms of a management agreement that is renewed every five years. In the 1980s, an academic structure was created to emphasize relationships among departments rather than relationships of departments to Indiana or Purdue mission assignments. Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne proactively grew its facilities to handle the swelling ranks of students, which totaled more than 10,500 by 2000. The Indiana Commission for Higher Education granted the university that status in 2015, and then reaffirmed it in 2019 after the realignment which created separate Purdue and Indiana University campuses in Fort Wayne.

The university vision is to be the university of choice for students in northeast Indiana and beyond. We value access to affordable and high-quality programs and services; the integrity, significance, and value of Purdue University degrees; an environment of open intellectual inquiry, mutual respect, shared governance, and civility; an environment that enhances learning by recognizing the inherent worth of all individuals and celebrating differences of culture, background, and experience among all individuals and groups; the highest ethical standards of equity, fairness, transparency, and academic integrity; and a multifaceted and mutually beneficial collaboration with Fort Wayne and the greater northeast Indiana region.

Students won’t the biggest events at Purdue Fort Wayne. The Industry Career Fairs have more than 60 companies in the industries of business, leadership, government, engineering, science and technology, and nonprofit recruiting for thousands of open positions. Homecoming Week features activities and competitions for the entire campus, with free food, fun, and giveaways.
