Colorado State University

Colorado State University was founded in 1870 with concentration on student experience. That means letting go of titles and structure and embracing an academic community that provides opportunity beyond individual direct specialization. There’s room for everyone at Colorado State. That’s not because we all agree with each other or live life the same way. Instead, it’s because we value and respect each other’s differences and we know that we’re better equipped to tackle the challenges of tomorrow when we work together.

Curiosity, Passion, Rigor and Innovation is our academic values which are the foundation of our students’ success. Thanks to our investments, 79 percent of our graduates complete their degrees in 4.5 years or less. With a 13 percent increase in our faculty in the past five years. The student-faculty ratio is holding steady at 18:1.

CSU dedicated to increasing the number of diverse students on campus. Knowing that bringing together students from different walks of life improves learning for everyone. That’s why we’re so proud of two years of record-breaking diversity in our incoming class.

Part of educating the leaders of tomorrow is teaching by example. At Colorado State, we take our responsibility to our students, our community, our state, and the world seriously. We don’t wait for someone else to confront the hard problems; we get our hands dirty first.

Colorado State has a long history as one of the nation’s most sustainable universities, but now CSU is the first university in the world to ever have its sustainability efforts go platinum. CSU has become the first and only campus to achieve platinum status – the highest possible – under the STARS rating system, an independent program that measures comprehensive sustainability efforts at more than 700 universities across the globe.

“This STARS rating reaffirms that CSU is a national leader in building a sustainable, environmentally responsible campus community,” President Tony Frank said. “That commitment to sustainability is woven through Colorado State’s academics, research, student engagement, operations, planning, and administration by the conscious efforts of our students, faculty and staff. There is no one office in charge of sustainability at Colorado State – it’s a collective effort of the entire community, and we’ve made progress because of the vision, hard work and tireless dedication of many, many people.”

STARS stand for Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System, and it is a program conducted by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. It is considered the most comprehensive and prestigious sustainability performance measurement program in higher education.
