Tulane University

Since beginning as a medical college in 1834 and became a comprehensive university in 1847, we’ve grown into one of the most well-respected research universities in the country. We’re one of just 62 members of the Association of American Universities, an elite group of top-ranked research institutions. Offer more than 70 majors in five different schools, including science and engineering, architecture, business, liberal arts and public health. Every single one of Tulane undergraduate students gives back. We were the first research university to require community service in the curriculum. Last year alone, our students logged more than 780,000 hours of civic service in New Orleans.

U.S. News’ Best Colleges 2022 edition ranked Tulane No. 42 among the nation’s top National Universities list. The publication also ranked Tulane No. 4 among the best schools for Service Learning, and Tulane’s undergraduate business program ranked 41st in the nation. The U.S. News list coincides with release of the Princeton Review Best 387 Colleges: 2022 Edition, which places Tulane in the top universities that are Most Loved, Best Run, and have the Best College City, Best Quality of Life and the Happiest Students.

Tulane also provides Internship database shared by an elite group of universities including Duke, Brown, Harvard, Vanderbilt, Emory, and Princeton, and our one-credit career development course, “Majors, Internships, and Jobs,” that teaches skills in résumé building, interview preparation and professional social media.

Tulane’s beautiful, tree-lined campus will feel like home in no time. Our students can choose to live in residential colleges with people who share their interests or opt for a more traditional dorm experience. Residence halls and libraries offer quiet places to study but there are many other cozy spots to study or even take a nap between classes.

With over 25 dining locations on campus, students are never far from a wide range of meals and snacks. A monthly farmer’s market, food trucks and a late-night diner are some of the most popular offerings.
