Baylor University was chartered in 1845 by the Republic of Texas through the efforts of Baptist pioneers, Baylor is the oldest continually operating university in Texas. Established to be a servant of the church and of society, Baylor seeks to fulfill its calling through excellence in teaching and research, in scholarship and publication, and in service to the community, both local and global. Located in Waco, Baylor welcomes students from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and 89 countries to study a broad range of degrees among its 12 nationally recognized academic divisions.

Baylor has been ranked on the Peace Corps’ list of top volunteer-producing colleges and universities in 2020, coming in at No. 21 among medium-sized schools. Currently, 17 Baylor alumni are serving as Peace Corps volunteers in countries around the world. “These schools are institutions that emphasize being global citizens and service-minded students,” Peace Corps Director Jody Olsen said.

The 416-acre park, Cameron Park is located in the heart of Waco, next to downtown. It features scenic overlooks, wildlife and playgrounds, plus approximately 20 miles of nationally recognized trails that weave through the natural landscape. The park runs along towering limestone bluffs and overlooks the Brazos and Bosque rivers.
