California State University, Northridge or CSUN is a public university founded in 1958. CSUN has the largest number of students among the universities in the California State University system. More than 134 programs for undergraduate, graduate and doctorate degrees are available. Currently, they have over 38,000 graduates. The university’s commitment to student success, inclusive excellence and service. That serves the community has made it a national model for institutions of higher learning. CSUN’s history began as San Fernando Valley State College in portable classrooms. And on former agricultural land, has evolved into the second-largest public master’s university in the nation.

More than 360,000 alumni serve as the economic spark for Southern California and beyond. CSUN graduates’ students who go on to lead industries as varied as tech, entertainment, business, education, the arts, health and science. CSUN has catapulted Matador students and alumni to create social change, make new discoveries and better our world.

CSUN nine colleges offer 68 baccalaureate degrees, 58 master’s degrees, 2 professional doctorate degrees, 14 teaching credential programs in the field of education – Arts, Media & Communication, Business & Economics, Education, Engineering & Computer Science, Health & Human Development, Humanities. Science & Mathematics, Social & Behavioral Sciences, etc. Student has various opportunities in extended learning and other special programs, which offers something for every student. Besides degree programs, CSUN is also one of the largest English language institutions offering Pathway program for international students.

CSUN is accredited through the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). WSCUC is a regional accrediting agency serving a diverse membership of public and private higher education institutions. Throughout California, Hawaii, and the Pacific as well as a limited number of institutions outside the U.S. Through its work of peer review, based on standards agreed to by the membership, the Commission encourages continuous institutional improvement and assures the membership. And its constituencies, including the public, that accredited institutions. Fulfilling their missions in service to their students and the public good. The WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. As certifying institutional eligibility for federal funding in a number of programs, including student access to federal financial aid.

 

Location

Northridge, Los Angeles (USA)

located in Northridge, on a 356-acre campus in the heart of Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley. There are many highlights of this university. It is home to the National Center on Deafness, an institution providing scholarships and supports to over 150 students with hearing loss. CSUN is also a filming location for many films such as Star Trek, The Good Place, Supergirl and CSI: Las Vegas.  Moreover, the university also hosts an international technology and persons with disabilities conference (known as CSUN Conference). The event is held annually in San Diego. Lastly, the CSUN Botanic Garden and the Oviatt, a library with over 1.4 million books are also situated in this university.

Student will gain experience by getting involved outside of the classroom. By exploring new interests and meet new people by joining a club or organization and consider living on campus and studying abroad. Whether on or off campus, the transportation and entertainment choices are endless. If student need assistance, services are also including the Learning Resource Center, Klotz Student Health Center, Student Recreation Center, Oasis Wellness Center, Career Center and the Department of Police Services.

Student Union at the university is to foster the achievement of students’ educational goals. By facilitating a strong connection between students and their campus community. CSUN is an engaging and energetic campus program that develops students through inclusive activities, meaningful employment opportunities, leadership experiences and innovative technologies, facilities, and services. Including the Computer Lab, East Conference Center, Games Room, Northridge Center, Oasis Wellness Center, Pride Center, Reservations & Event Services, Student Recreation Center, USU Events, Veterans Resource Center and more.
