Simon Fraser University Born in 1965, with 2,500 students. SFU has become Canada’s leading comprehensive university with vibrant campuses in British Columbia’s largest municipalities — Vancouver, Burnaby and Surrey — and deep roots in partner communities throughout the province and around the world. Today, with 30,000 students, 6,500 faculty and staff, and more than 160,000 alumni, SFU has matured into one of the world’s leading teaching and research universities. Consistently ranked among Canada’s top comprehensive universities and named to the Times Higher Education list of 100 world universities under 50, SFU is also the first Canadian member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the world’s largest college sports association.

In the place where innovative education, cutting-edge research and community outreach intersect, you’ll find Simon Fraser University. Our vision? To be Canada’s leading engaged university. Noted Canadian architects Arthur Erickson and Geoffrey Massey designed the original Burnaby Mountain campus to foster interdisciplinary contact between students and researchers. That same openness and desire to innovate informs SFU’s current vision: to be Canada’s most community-engaged research university.

SFU offer a wide variety of program options for you to build your own undergraduate degree – majors, minors, and certificates can be combined to create an experience unique to you. Master’s and doctoral degrees are available in all eight of our faculties. The university also support all students on the road to academic success and offer specialized services for Aboriginal and international students.

SFU welcomes scholars from around the world and supports its students in becoming global citizens. In addition to the comprehensive programs and services offered through Student Services and the Student Learning Commons, we offer the following specialized support to International students and other students from international pathways.

SFU’s goal is to ensure our campuses are welcoming places for everyone to gather and learn and that all who work, or study here feel a sense of belonging, inclusion, fairness and mutual respect. The ultimate goal is to create the conditions to foster a culture of inclusion and healthy campus environment. At SFU, there are lots of ways to gain practical work experience—and a paycheque—while you study.

If it’s flexibility the students are after, try distance education or nights and weekends classes. For workplace skills and a global perspective, check out our Co-op and Study Abroad programs. Enrich your studies through non-academic programs that include leadership and mentorship opportunities, and sports and recreation activities.
