University of New England

UNE was formed in 1938 as the New England University College, a College of the University of Sydney. The University became fully independent in 1954 and pioneered teaching to external students by correspondence, making UNE Australia’s most experienced provider of distance and now online education. The university focus is on student’s future, providing you with a personal and flexible approach to learning. Offering more than 200 courses at undergraduate, postgraduate coursework and higher degree research levels with options to study online or on campus.

UNE is one of Australia’s oldest universities, with a reputation for excellence in teaching, learning and research. Over 22,000 students enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate coursework, as well as Higher Degree Research programs across fields of study such as: Arts and humanities, Education, Health and Nursing, Business and Law, Environmental and Rural Science, Science and Technology.

UNE is dedicated to identifying and delivering innovations of value to society and industry — in Australia and internationally — with a particular emphasis on inter-disciplinary research. We seek solutions to complex problems in rural and regional Australia. Our research involves interdisciplinary and cross-institutional collaborations and is underpinned by five thematic research priorities: Australia’s future food and water security; Climate change and environmental sustainability; Health and wellbeing in rural communities; Our communities, our neighbours; Our past, present and future.

UNE boasts an excellent international reputation in teaching and research — students rate their experience highly because of our small classes and interaction with teaching staff.
